September faves

I am fully aware it is not the end of September yet but I am just so excited for winter that I refuse to do an August faves post. I am almost certain it was September 1st like 3 days ago... Time is flying by! Soon it will be Halloween, bonfire night and then Christmas. I physically can’t wait for layering, my mums tater ash, Christmas markets, chocolate apples – the list is endless. *Side note* sorry for the lack of updates, I have been lacking inspiration and motivation. However whilst online shopping with my imaginary millions and just generally procrastinating, I realised Schrifle might enjoy my September Faves. So let's begin!

Music is obviously something I always love. But more specifically there are two albums that have been on repeat recently. For me, you can tell a good album by how long its ‘shower’ life is. If the album is still my shower album after 1 week, then it’s definitely a winner in my books. For example Jay Zs Magna Carter Holy Grail is still one of my shower faves a year on! Tom Ford got me clapping whilst trying to shave my legs and Holy Grail got me ‘dueting’ with my shampoo bottle. However let me get back to the two albums I have been overplaying this month: Trxye by Troye Sivan and Souled Out by Jhene Aiko.

TRXYE – Troye Sivan

An EP consisting of 5 songs, Troye Sivan originally known for his YouTube channel with a crazy following of 2.7 million subscribers has expanded and broadened his horizons by releasing this little gem. I never knew Troye could actually sing, so when he released TRXYE, I was slightly sceptical of it just being a collection of stereotypical/generic pop songs. However I was completely wrong and it was the best £2.99 I have ever spent. The music is well produced like nothing I’ve ever heard before and the lyrics are relevant and relatable. Troyes honesty and passion has scored him a successful and well-received EP. If you haven’t heard it, I strongly suggest you go and give it a listen!
Souled Out – Jhene Aiko
I recently saw Jhene at V Festival after what feels like waiting forever, her first album Sail Out captured the essence of my summer perfectly. Jhene reminds me of a little baby kitten, she may be tiny but her voice definitely isn’t! Her latest album Souled out is a collection of slow and blissfully beachy songs that instantaneously guide you into a trance. It’s the perfect album for September, as we all know this month can be a little stressful with going back to school/college/work. If you want to relax and forget about everything for a while – souled out will help you drift away.

Quaker Oat So Simple Golden Syrup Porridge
You’re probably thinking this is a tad strange to be a favourite but I have a story to tell you. Once upon a time, I hated porridge, to the point where even looking at it made me want to vom up. To be honest it was quite deceiving because it always smelt amazing, but just the look of it made me look or taste no further and yeah yeah I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. But I’ve learnt my lesson because one day, I could smell it and thought ‘I need it now.’ To cut a long story short and after all the wasted sachets, my pallet finally adjusted and well... now I’m addicted to it. To the point where when I lie down in bed at night, I get excited to wake up and eat it... Help?

Fashion Week

(L-R Jeremy Scott, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana, No.21)
I think the pictures explain it all really but fashion week is always fun, and its always cool to see how the high street deal with working around the clothes and making an affordable alternative.

Zara leathers
Another fashion related fave but if you know me personally, you will know my favourite item of clothing is jackets. My style consists of a trusty pair of jeans that don’t go baggy at the knees after an hour, a soft basic tee, a cool pair of brogues and a structured or colourful jacket (usually leather/denim/suede). So when Zara released their winter collection, the first thing my fingers darted to was the outerwear section and boy oh boy did I find some beauties.

Paper Towns by John Green

When I finished The Fault in Our Stars in less than a day I naturally realised how much I needed to read his other books. This hunt lead me to Paper Towns, a lot of the reviews online lead me to believe that no other John Green books could really compete with TFIOS, which is pretty fair. TFIOS is untouchable so I understood why a lot of people would feel that way. However I went ahead and started reading Paper Towns and was instantly gripped by the mysterious Margo Roth Spiegelman. It’s a story of mystery, adventure and young love. John Green explores teenage angst in a playful way which makes it easy to read and hard to put down!

PS. that naked juice is so minging, much prefer eating my veggies whole!
